Bupa Individual Protection reduces critical illness and income protection rates

10 January 2007

From 15 January Bupa Individual Protection will reduce the monthly cost of providing critical illness by four percent. The reduced rates on its award winning accelerated critical illness products will provide a male non smoker aged 25 years next birthday on a ten year term with a new monthly cost of £38.56 down from £40.03*.

Bupa Income Protection rates have also been reviewed, on average reducing by seven percent. An example of the reductions now available are a class 1 male non smoker aged 49, with a deferred period of 52 weeks and a retirement age of 60, the monthly premium reduces from £32.08 to £26.09**.

Steve Casey, product manager at Bupa Individual Protection said “We are delighted to bring these reductions to the market and assist IFAs in bridging the protection gap especially in the light of the PPI review and the removal of tax relief from pension term products.”

“We are also taking this opportunity to make several changes to our extranet including an upgrade to allow users of Microsoft Internet Explorer v7 access.”

Bupa Individual Protection will also offer a 10 percent LAUTRO enhancement in commission for business placed electronically with effect from 15 January.
