Bupa staff taught a lesson or three
11 August 2006
Three schools welcomed 100 Bupa UK Insurance staff back into the classroom on Thursday 27 July as part of the biggest ever Bupa community challenge.
Teams from the finance department, based at Salford Quays, visited Offerton Hall Nursery School, St Mark’s Primary School and Kingsway Primary School to offer over 700 combined working hours with the aim to improve the facilities at each location.
The project allowed Bupa staff to do something really worthwhile for their community, producing results that will be appreciated for years to come. Tasks included planting a herb garden and building a straw house at Offerton, painting, gardening and construction at St Mark’s and clearing a woodland area at Kingsway.
Jon Clover, Financial Controller at Bupa UK Insurance said: “The entire finance function was involved with today’s project, and what a day we have had. It has been a huge challenge to organise 100 people over three different locations, and what we have learnt today is that with a lot of enthusiasm and hard work, anything is possible.”
Louise Hanlon, Community Connections Consultant at Bupa said: “This was the largest ever challenge attempted by Community Connections, and shows Bupa’s commitment to its local communities. It was a unique opportunity to work at three different locations at the same time, and was only possible because of everybody’s dedication and hard work.”
