Essex care home brightened up thanks to Bupa
16 December 2008
Facilities for residents at a local Romford care home, Chaseview Residential and Nursing Home, have been given a major boost thanks to an investment of over £300,000 by Bupa, one of the UK's leading care home providers.
The investment at Bupa Chaseview, located off Dagenham Road, Romford also includes a sensory garden with new outdoor furniture, an array of trees and shrubs and a soothing water feature. Bupa has worked in partnership with a leading charity, Thrive, to develop sensory gardens at 256 of its care homes. The creative design of the gardens with their use of sculpture, running water, strong scents and bright colours have been exclusively designed to stimulate all senses and increase the residents’ enjoyment – Bupa even won a gold medal for its garden and the BBC RHS People’s Award at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.
Bupa Chaseview has also been redecorated and new carpets, curtains and furniture have been introduced throughout. The refurbishments have proved a real hit for the residents and their families as well as all the staff at the care home and are part of Bupa’s multi-million pound investment in the UK care homes sector, to help improve the standard of care for older people.
Home manager, Jonathan Hoyle, said: "We've been excited about the refurbishment for some time and now that it is complete, we are really proud of the way things look and all the benefits the development gives to our residents. The home feels much brighter and is even more welcoming. The improvements in the garden will be particularly popular - having a really special outdoor space with comfortable furniture will be excellent for our residents in the coming spring."
