Bupa invests £2.5 million in Ipswich care home
17 October 2008
Facilities for older people in Ipswich having been given a boost, thanks to a £2.5 million investment by Bupa in local nursing home, Monmouth Court.
People from the local community are invited to help celebrate the occasion, when the Mayor and Mayoress of Ipswich will cut the ribbon to open the major extension and be shown around it, led by a piper in full regalia. There will then be a drinks reception and refreshments, and each of the four houses at Monmouth Court will host live musical entertainment for all to enjoy.
The investment sees an increase in capacity at the nursing home, which now has an extra 33 en-suite bedrooms and two new lounge areas, all with flat screen TVs, plus a library and a quiet room where residents can relax. Additionally, two enclosed courtyard areas have been spruced up for residents through a co-operation with a local garden centre – one area is themed around the seaside, and the other is based on the countryside.
The development is part of Bupa’s multi-million pound drive to improve standards in the care home sector, and to meet the area’s growing care needs. It has already proved to be a real hit with the residents, their families and staff at Monmouth Court and brings the total number of rooms at the home to 153.
Home manager Claudette Lyons said: “We are delighted with the new extension and our residents love it! We are looking forward to celebrating the opening and to welcoming new faces into the home.”
