Bupa's new head of travel looks to outer space

Bupa has appointed Tariq Siddiqui to lead its international travel insurance business which covers individual and business travellers as well as gap year students and offers cover for winter sports where required.
In a 10-year Bupa career, Tariq has gained experience in sales and marketing across both business and consumer sectors and recently was responsible for driving sales of Client Choice, one of Bupa’s policies for individual customers.
Tariq said: “I’m really looking forward to growing Bupa Travel’s presence in the market. Nothing is out of scope and we have very ambitious expectations for the business over the next four years. Longer term we’re even considering space tourism as a real opportunity to meet the needs of the next generation of travellers.”
Fiona Harris, director of health insurance, sales and retention, said: “Tariq has a wealth of experience in product development, strategy, distribution and operations. He will play an instrumental role in our ambitious growth plans and I look forward to working closely with him as we build upon Bupa’s current success.”
Established more than 30 years ago, Bupa Travel offers cover to suit different lifestyles including six options for the business traveller and three ‘explorer’ options for the gap year student.
