Iford care home gets £300,000 makeover thanks to Bupa
25 November 2008
Bupa’s Seabrooke Manor care home in Ilford has undergone a major refurbishment, as a part of a multi-million pound investment programme by the company to help improve the standard of care for older people.
The £300,000 refurbishment has given the 'excellent-rated' 120-bed care home, which provides residential and dementia care, a top-to-toe makeover, including new carpets, curtains, furniture and wash facilities. The home’s new modern equipment has been designed with residents’ every need in mind – from the latest flatscreen televisions in lounges to newly fitted electronic baths, which lift residents up and down, making bath time a more enjoyable and safe experience.
Brent Maher, home manager at Seabrooke Manor said, 'We are absolutely delighted with the way Seabrooke Manor looks. Our residents’ needs have been put first in every way – for example, we have created murals of familiar places in the home’s corridors to help residents with dementia find the way to their rooms. The murals include a high street, with a café and pub, and a painting of Valentines Park including the fountains and play area. We also have an in-house cinema, in which ‘golden oldie’ films are played, allowing residents to dress up and enjoy a night out'.
Bupa’s Seabrooke Manor has been awarded an ‘excellent’ rating by care homes’ regulator, the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
