Bupa to invest £1.5 million in refit of Yorkshire nursing home

27 January 2004

Bupa is to invest £1.5 million in a major refurbishment of one of its 245 care homes, Bupa’s Southlands Nursing Home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The refurbishment will take place over the next 12 months and will include high quality upgrades to all 68 bedrooms and to the home’s living and dining areas.

Peter Ludford, director of Bupa Care Homes, says: “We’re committed to providing high quality care to residents in all our care homes. As part of the £15 million we invest in our homes every year, we’re spending £1.5 million on improving facilities for residents, staff and visitors at Bupa’s Southlands Nursing Home.

Each of the bedrooms at Southlands will be refurbished to include an en-suite bathroom. Other developments will include the creation of a comfortable restaurant, a contemporary coffee lounge for residents and visitors to relax in and two further lounges - one with a licensed bar. Work has already started on the refurbishment and is due to be completed before the end of 2004 to ensure minimal disruption to the residents.
