Flu Plus - A flu vaccine and mini health check in one

28 September 2004

More than 150 million working days a year are lost due to flu-related illnesses at a cost of around £6.75 billion. With statistics like these it makes good business sense for companies to offer employees on-site vaccinations known to prevent up to 90 percent of infections. Employers in the London area can now add to this a Bupa mini health assessment for other risks including blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol.

The results of the assessments are available on the same day with feedback from an experienced health care professional that will provide individuals with lifestyle advice and a personalised report.

Companies can offer a variety of packages, each including a flu vaccine administered by a Bupa nurse. With a "total cholesterol" test individuals will have cholesterol levels in their blood checked while the "full cholesterol" test will specifically identify levels of low-density lipoproteins (ldl) and high density lipoproteins (hdl).

Known as Flu Plus, the service requires the use of a small private room on the customer's premises and takes 15 minutes. It minimises lost time as employees will not need to travel to have their health checks. For more information on this service available to companies in London and the South East call 020 7800 6460.
